During the latest 10 months we’ve had trouble with thieves plundering the neighborhood, scaring some of the people living here etc. Not many are comfortable with shady guys running around the neighborhood with hammers, crowbars and who knows what. I’ve been living in this lovely neighborhood for more than 15 years now, and pretty much everyone here, on top of the city, have been living here even longer. It’s all the time been just exactly that; a lovely neighborhood with neighbors helping each other out when needed, always finding time for a little conversation either to or from. Seeing this “habit” of thievery and vandalism develop how it’s been since Christmas 2021 was not something we could tolerate, and since there was not much help to be found from the police during this time(no time, lack of evidence etc. according to them), we put our brains together and decided Enough is enough. At least 4 of them (thieves) there have been, “visiting” us on different occasions, mostly at night but also in the daytime. Although none of them have attempted any robbery or vandalism on my property, it really doesn’t matter- we don’t want this in our neighborhood. One of them almost got mauled by a flower pot(full of rocks etc) thrown by one of my neighbors a while back- he will probably never visit us again. The second guy got caught red handed by me, stealing bike parts etc. about a month ago- he got a very clear warning after being confronted both by me and one of my neighbors(whom I called), and will most likely never return. The third guy, which is a close friend of the fourth guy; was caught by me yesterday, after I got a phone call from me neighbor who saw him on his security camera(not being present himself). I hurried over to his house and stopped the thief in his tracks as he was about to leave the house. He was carrying a hammer, dressed as a construction worker; obviously trying to be smart and “blend in”. As I confronted him he raised the hammer, clearly wanting to hit me, and as he was neither an heroin addict nor a small guy, I backed off a bit not to get a hammer hit in my head. I looked for a potential weapon around, and as I did so he proceeded to flee from the house into the forest, hammer still in his hand; I jumped the fence and took up track. Sadly for him he was not much of a match for someone grown up in a mountainside when it came to running, so I caught up with him fairly quickly. As he was still carrying the hammer, and obviously ready to use it to avoid being caught, I had picked up a dry branch from the forest floor while in pursuit. Diverting his attention, I waited for the right moment and landed a hard blow to both his hands with my improvised “weapon”; it was plenty to make him let go the hammer and somewhat understand the seriousness of the situation. After a brief talk, where I explained to him that he really had no choice but to come with me back to the house of my neighbor, which was on his way, he reluctantly came along- I made him walk in front of me for safety reasons. After having sat down there for about 10 minutes, my neighbor came, and another 10 minutes later the police was there.<\/p>\r\n

\"\"They got him delivered on a silver tray, and this time it appeared they somewhat understood the gravity of the situation. Needless to say, the fourth guy which is this guys friend(our “detective work” discovered that), will know everything, and none of them will ever set their feet in this neighborhood again. The moral of the story; do not allow this kind of behavior and incidents to get roots in your neighborhood, nor at all as far as we can pursue it- and be kind to your neighbors.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
