Tongkat Ali extract is the root of a plant originating from Malaysia. This specific extract has a concentration of 200:1, meaning to get 1 kg of extract, 200 kg of root is needed. Most extracts available has a 100:1 concentration, meaning half the strength. In clinical studies done on mice, scientists discovered that supplementing with Tongkat Ali increased their levels of free testosterone by up to 440%.

Possible side effects of Tongkat Ali

Taking too much of the herb, or if you are extraordinarily sensitive to it; you may experience headaches, agressiveness, restlessness and increased body temperature. If you experience any of the symptoms, reduce your dose or get off it completely for a while.

 

Dosage and recommendations:

There are no know serious side effects to taking Tongkat Ali, and some natural bodybuilders etc take more than 1 gram of it in their daily dose. It might be a good idea to take about 800- 1000 mg daily for a while, to boost your testosterone, but once you have reached the desired level you can maintain it with a level of 200- 400 mg per day. Also after having been on the herb for a while it might be a good idea to get off it completely for a few weeks. Anything being consumed too regularly loses some of its effect, as the body builds up tolerance to it.
